Prayer Works at These Churches

Every church knows that prayer is important but these churches have prayer ministries that work. And I'm not just saying they work! I'm saying they are structured in such a way that there is a time, place and plan for people in the congregation to participate in their prayer ministries.

Church of the Highlands in Birmingham, Alabama

On the Church of the Highlands website you will learn that they are "here to help people know God, find freedom, discover their purpose, and make a difference." When you click on their "about" page, there are several ministries listed from left to right on the page. The first option of ministries is prayer.

Don't you love that? This is a congregation with their priorities in order! When you click on the video of Colette Green, their prayer pastor, she shares that prayer is foundational to the life of the Church. Then she tells you how their prayer ministry functions and how you can be involved.

  I LOVE IT!

Gateway Church in Texas

I've known that God is doing great and mighty things at Gateway Church, but when I clicked on the prayer ministry to see what they have going on, I discovered that this church is serious about praying! Check out this link to discover all the different ways that the people of Gateway participate in prayer: Through monthly services, weekly gatherings and even special "healing prayer services" staffed with trained team members.   On the prayer page of their website you can submit a prayer request and access many prayer resources. Click here to see what I'm talking about: Prayer at Gateway Church in Texas

Thompson Station Church in Thompson Station, TN

There was no way I was going to leave out the prayer ministry that I lead at Thompson Station Church. We have a saying at our church that goes like this, "When we work, we work. But when we pray, God works." We call ourselves a prayer-powered church. And we have several ways the people of our church can be involved in our prayer ministry.

The 2 main prayer teams are the Prayer Clinic team and the Prayer and Fasting Team. The Prayer Clinic Team is a highly trained team of prayer warriors who serve the intercessory ministry of our church. Every member of that team has 1 requirement to join the team. They must believe that God hears and answers us when we pray. All the rest we teach them.

The prayer and fasting team is made up of over 100 people who are committed to fast and pray over the pastor and staff private prayer list that is updated monthly. Our goal is to have 365 people on this team and every day of the year covered with team members praying and fasting.

We also have a place to submit prayer requests and several places to click through to receive more information on the various prayer ministries of the church. Click here to learn more about our prayer ministry.

I chose these 3 churches because they have a plan for prayer. Too many of our churches want to pray but they haven't planned to pray. Many others don't have a clear path to join their prayer teams. If you're reading this article, you are someone who longs to see your church praying. If you want to learn more about how you can do that, please send me an email at [email protected] and let me help you come up with a plan.
